Born in Edinburgh, I initially studied an Arts & Design Degree, specialising in Silversmithing in Sheffield and went on to run a workshop and giving jewellery classes in London.
However as I had always been interested in other cultures and languages, I decided to move abroad. I came to Barcelona in 1990 and gained a qualifification to teach English.
My main experience is in teaching adults/professionals general and work-related English.
My strengths are my communication skills and patience. Learning a language is not easy, but I have first hand experience in designing tailor-made courses and have many innovative ways for helping students to persevere and progress through their interests and focusing activities and material in these areas.
My early creative skills and the discipline I learned from silversmithing have helped me a lot in this aspect
Later, in the year 2000 I felt I needed to reinforce and further my teaching skills, so I did the Delta Diploma. After achieving this goal, I felt sure of my teaching abilities in the classroom and since then have really enjoyed teaching and the satisfaction gained from seeing my students triumph in their goals.
As well as courses related to work situations in areas such as presentations, telephoning, meetings and social English, I also have experience in teaching Cambridge exam courses and Toeic & Toefl.
I continue to be involved in arts and crafts projects and enjoy swimming regularly. And as you can see I enjoy the Mediterranean and surrounding region as I am still here after all these years.
